Make this Cute Jester Clown
Excellent 4-part video demo from Marisol Romero, showing us, step-by step, how to make a cold porcelain clown figure. Very cute face and colorful jester costume! You can find a choice of recipes for making your own cold porcelain here. In addition to homemade cold porcelain,
there's many pre-colored commercial air-dry clays that would be suitable for this project such as Hearty, Makins, ClayCraft, Model Magic and the new clay from Martha Stewart called Crafter's Clay.
You'll note, in the video, that Marisol lets some parts of the figure dry separately...such as the hands and the head. This makes them easier to handle when assembling figure. Prevents squishing the uncured clay parts!! This is the 'secret trick' for working with the softer clays. ;-) White glue is used where needed to attach new clay to cured clay and in other places where there may be a weak join.
Crafting with air-dry cold porcelain is very popular in South America but there's not many English language tutorials for working with air-dry clay, so today we have another video where the dialog is in Spanish. I can tell you there's not much need for words in this video. The photography is very well done and every step is clearly shown. If you don't understand what Marisol is saying, just mute the video and watch the demo.
