Creating an Art Doll, Olga style, Pt. 7 of 7: Wig & Base



In this multi-part art doll demonstration, we've been following Olga Egupets as she shows us her techniques for making armatures, modeling faces, body parts and props, painting the doll and creating clothing.  This is Part 7, the final video in the series.  Olga finishes her doll by adding a wig using needle-felting techniques and wool roving.  Then she creates a leather-look display base from wood and paper and the doll with her new black dress is done!

This is Part 4 of 7.  Please go here for Parts 1 and 2.  Part 3 is here   In the first 3 steps, Olga created her armature and body form, coated it with a layer of papier mache to give it bulk and gave it a smooth finish with a brushed-on top coat (finished doll at this stage is shown above).  She also finished modeling the face, hands and feet using LaDoll clay.

Stylized and aged with crackle finish, this 'Dancing Girl' Paperclay stump doll from Miss Sophie Arts looks like it'd be a lot of fun to make.  The author sculpts heads and necks from Paperclay but their bodies use a paper mache technique.


"Paper Clay" Barnacles


This tutorial from Brenna creates these decorative "barnacles" from papier mache pulp, which she is calling "paper clay".   Brenna says:  "I used paper clay to make these organic barnacles. Paper Mache Buffalo



Brian Bemisdarfer sculpts instant papier mache into his unique "Thathanka — Giver of Plenty" buffalo.  Pretty nice sculpt, don't you think?   Here's the step by step instructions for creating the buffalo.

The modeling material he is using is a dry powder that is mixed with water for an instant papier mache pulp. Either Celluclay or Sculptamold or something similar.    He does not appear to be using the paperclay product, Creative Paperclay but Creative Paperclay could be used!

Make a Comical Conical Dog


Follow Pat Little's simple instructions to make a cute, comical dog with papier mache.   Great project to do with the kids.

Make a Boston Terrier from Papier Mache

Make this cute Boston Terrier from papier mache following these instructions from Pat Little.  Methods could be easily adapted to other breeds of dog.   Instant papier mache might be an option for building up body thickness.  Another idea is to use Creative Paperclay to sculpt small details...such as nose.

Pun Hui shows how to turn a simple 2D picture into a stunning 3D papier mache model.  Some of the materials used are a wire armature, a Styrofoam ball for head and Washi paper for clothing.
